Possessive pronouns
These should not be confused with possessive adjectives, although they look just like them!

The endings of these pronouns are exactly the same as those of dieser (see demonstrative adjectives). They must agree in number and gender with the noun for which they stand and the case ending is determined by the role in the sentence or clause.
Er hat sein Buch verloren, ich habe meines auch verloren. (neuter, acc (dieses))
He has lost his book, I have lost mine too!
Ich habe meinen Kugelschreiber vergessen, er hat seinen auch vergessen. (masc, acc)
I have forgotten my pen, he has forgotton his too!
einer / eine / eines (one) as pronouns
There is also a pronoun with similar endings to ein / eine / ein !

Da sind die zwei Jungen. Einer heisst Holger und der andere heisst Tim.
There are the two boys. One is called Holger and the other is called Tim.
Einer der Jungen hat die Hausaufgaben vergessen.
One of the boys forgot his homework. (Notice der Jungen is genitive plural)
